Chemo #3 at the Chemo Cafe

Resting with a Starbucks coffee getting my third Chemo through an IV in my wrist. My port flipped. IR said they have never seen a flipped port. No idea what happened. In any case, I will have to get a new port in next week. The nurses were trying to access my port, and I had a mask on, and I got so hot, I started feeling faint and nearly passed out. Luckily, I was sitting down. So, not the usual chemo scenario today! Trying to relax! I had some nausea this week, but it wasn’t too bad, and the medicine always helped. There was a lady here who got to ring the bell on her last round of chemo. I was so happy for her, but it brought tears to my eyes, knowing that I will more than likely never get to ring the bell. The IR doctors asked me how long I would need my port. I answered, “a long time,” but I wanted to sob, “for the rest of my life.” So, not so relaxing today at the Chemo Cafe, but it feels good to be getting Chemo No. 3. I will be off next week, so it will be a nice break — although I will be back at Walter Reed again for my port. No rest for the weary! In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy having my mom and sister here!
