Tribe Vibes

No news today. Just came across this saying about elephants while scrolling through Facebook, and I found it interesting – interesting about what the elephants do to protect each other and interesting for a more personal reason, as well. For Christmas or my birthday this year, I can’t remember which (my memory is getting so bad as I age!🫣), my two best friends since 6th grade and junior high each sent me an elephant necklace. They’re both beautiful elephant necklaces, different from each other, but equally adored by me. It is rare to see me without a necklace on. I’ve loved them my entire life. I laughed out loud when I opened the second one. My two best friends had gotten me basically the same thing! I try to wear necklaces with meaning – given to me by someone special, a mustard seed necklace to remind me of my faith, a tiny four-leaf clover engraved with GRANDPA to remember when I would search for them with him, amber for my three Polish kids, etc. I wondered about the significance of elephants because, surely, there must be some meaning in them since both of my best friends had sent them. My daughter loved elephants and decorated her room with them, so I could be down with elephants. I figured maybe elephants were fashionable right now, so I wore both necklaces often. I got several compliments when wearing each. And then, I came across this saying above. And, suddenly, receiving elephant necklaces from both of my best friends, unbeknown to the other, made complete sense. They are part of my tribe, all of you who have always been there for me throughout this journey. So, while things are going great on this chemo break still, I want to thank you all for being my elephants.

I have a port flush coming up this week. It’s just a flush, no bloodwork, so there won’t be any results or news. Next, I have to get my PET scan set up for October or November. I will let you know once I get it scheduled. Until then, stay safe and healthy, everyone!
