The Best Ships Are Friendships⚓️

Sitting in the Chemo Cafe with my good friend, Michele, who is here visiting me for the long weekend. We haven’t see each other in 14 years. We were stationed together early in our marriages and early in our husbands’ careers when they were on the same ship. Michele and I bonded immediately on a dependents cruise, and she was my first and best military spouse friend. We were never stationed together after that tour, but we have remained good friends throughout the years. This year, both of our spouses will be retiring, so we have been through much of our husbands’ careers together. There is just something so bonding and so special between military friends. I am so happy she is here this weekend. We met with the doctor this morning. Everything is going well, and my side effects are minimal. I am starting my third 4-week cycle today, and after my fourth cycle, I will have a scan. I am so comfortable right now — everything is manageable and going so well that I don’t want to know the results of a scan. But, at the same time, I am anxious to know if this treatment is “working.” My doctor says that if everything stays the same, it will be good. I am going for not only good but better! I am hoping this cancer has shrunken. Fingers crossed. 🙏🏻🤞🏻 Michele said a good scan will be my Christmas present as I will get my results around the holidays. 🙏🏻🎁 I never seem to have the same reaction to chemo the first few days after Chemo, so Michele and I are planning a relaxing next few days, and I am looking forward to it! Will keep you updated later this week on how this round goes, and I will update again next Friday at Chemo #2, Cycle 3.
