Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day 2023

Yesterday was Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day. My post from three years ago titled “Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day” always gets a lot of hits each year, so I thought I’d update it a little with a more current post! Plus, my mom was not on Facebook yesterday. So, she saw my Facebook post from yesterday about it having been Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day and reposted what I shared today. As soon as she posted, she saw on her feed a video by Caleb + Kelsey, and they were singing their song “I believe in you.” She identified with it, so she sent me the video. It was the first time she, my sister and I had heard the song. I immediately identified with the lyrics, as well, especially as a metastatic triple negative breast cancer thriver.

It was special that my mom sent it to me and that she and my sister called me their hero, but it was just as special that my mom sent it to me because I know that, like in the lyrics, she’d give anything to make it alright for me.

I’m no hero – I’m just doing the best I can with what I have (a saying I heard often from my grandma when I was growing up). I wanted to share the song with all of you on behalf of all my heroes, everyone fighting their own battles, whatever they might be, and especially – in honor of Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day -- those who read this who are fighting the aggressive disease. I believe in you.

I can’t share the video or the lyrics on my site, but if you want to listen to a beautiful song, I encourage you to look it up. It brought tears to my eyes.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone.
