Thankful and Grateful
Sorry I haven’t written in so long since my appointment with my oncologist. Life has just gotten busy with the holidays! I had an awesome visit with my doctor. All my bloodwork, organ functions, and vitamin levels are within normal ranges – for the first time since 2015, I think!! My doctor said the uptake was actually behind my liver, not in my liver, so she suspects that everything is just fine! I will still have my scan and ultrasound just to make sure on December 9th. I ran for the first time in soooo long last week, and I got my heart rate up to where it should be during exercise, and it felt WONDERFUL, so I’m going to be continuing the zero to a mile running program I started. My oncologist recommended intermittent fasting to help lose some of this chemo weight I’ve put on, so I’ve been doing that since I had my appointment. I am feeling healthier than I have in a decade! I also asked my doctor about the triple negative metastatic breast cancer vaccine that is currently in trials. She said I would be a good candidate for it if it becomes available after FDA approval. But she also said that right now I am doing the same thing the vaccine could do – keep my cancer from recurring – by doing all the things I am doing – staying positive and taking care of myself physically, mentally, spiritually, etc. And I think she’s right! I feel very good about things right now, and I’m really hopeful about the future. I’m just living like I don’t have cancer and living one day at a time remembering to be thankful and grateful for each day. In any case, as my doctor told me, keeping this cancer away is in my hands now. I know it’s not; it’s in God’s hands, but I will keep doing everything in my power, or control, to keep it away. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! So much to be thankful for this year, including all of you! Thanks for your continued support, love and friendship! I’ll write again after my scans on the 9th. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
