Port Problems
I apologize for not writing from chemo the past couple of times. Life has been busy, and last time, my mom was with me, so I was preoccupied. My sister and mom came to visit for my birthday.
My port hasn’t been working right away the past couple of times they’ve tried to draw blood from it, but it was nothing that a cough, an arm stretch above the head or being turned upside down in the chair couldn’t fix. Today, it was being a real stickler, so they injected something into it, a little Drain-o for ports, so now I am waiting for it to start working. The nurse will check it every 20 minutes, and we can get going once it starts working.
I forgot I am getting my Zometa infusion today. Yuck. My son is coming home this weekend. I haven’t seen him since he joined the Army a year and a half ago, so I am going to load up on Claritin and Advil in hopes I can conquer the Zometa side effects this weekend.
I have a telehealth appointment with my oncologist next week, and we’ll get my next scan set up, probably for sometime in August. I’m pretty confident the area in my neck that lit up on my last scan will not be of concern anymore. Since the pain in that area of my neck is gone, I’m feeling good about the next scan.
The nurse just came to check on my port. Not working yet. So, we’ll continue to wait and check! I’ll update again from chemo in two weeks to let you know if I survived this Zometa infusion! 🫣😝🤣 Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
